Last week, we flew to New Mexico to tape a few segments for Creative Living with Sheryl Borden.
It’s been almost 10 years since I last taped some segments for Sheryl’s show. It was great to visit with her again.
My granddaughter, Kylee, went with us. She was a big help with packing everything up. She even starred in a few of the sessions, helping me demonstrate several sewing and craft techniques that are used in the new Doll Stuff by Jana line.
We demonstrated creating appliqués—both traditional flat designs and some fun layered, 3-D designs. We also did segments on mitred corner pillows (we call them Magic Folds Pillows), and some very easy flowers that you can add as embellishments to almost anything.
All of our techniques are in our shop as free pattern downloads.
After teaching the techniques, we showed how to use them with our new Doll Stuff by Jana product line.
Here is Kylee with our triple bunk bed. The pillows and blankets use the appliqués we demonstrated.
We took one of our easy headboard beds, again showing the appliqué on the bedspread.
We also took our shower—just for fun.
We had a wonderful time, but I think we wore Kylee out.
The Creative Living segments will air on most PBS stations. We’ll let you know the dates and times when we find out.
